Surgery Success!
Husband's surgery was a success! He had two "prominent" nerves that were pinched/compressed, so after slicing a 6" incision in his abdomen, and lots of digging and pulling, the doctor was able to take out the cyst and other things that were compressing the nerves and moved and separated the nerves so they had free space. They started out with a local anesthetic, and had to move to a general anesthetic because Husband wasn't tolerating the local only. Although he had an expected tough time coming out of the double anesthesia, Husband did great during recovery in the hospital and was able to go home only 5 hours after being wheeled back to the Operating Room!! The doctor, anesthesiologist, and nurses all provided the most attentive and professional care either of us has ever seen - we were super pleased with the care Husband received!! Now he's on the road to recovery at home. He's a bit limited in what he can do (no driving for 10 days, etc.), but is progressing quickly! There's still quite a bit of swelling, numbness, and pain, but he's doing well and is moving around great! We follow up with the surgeon a week from tomorrow, and hopefully in two weeks he'll be back at work. I've considered it a blessing to get to spend so much time with my husband and take care of him!! Since he's not only recovering from major surgery, but it's also his birthday month, he's getting pretty spoiled if I do say so myself, and I've loved every second of it!!
