Progress Report!

What better way to pick back up on my blogging than with great news from Mom!!! She had her "100 day appointment" (100 days post transplant) in San Antonio last week, and finally got results back. 'M-Spike' is the magic number patients with multiple myeloma look at. If a person's M-Spike gets down to zero, then they are in remission. If a person's M-Spike gets to zero & a bone biopsy test comes back clear, then they are in super-special remission. (There's a much more technical term to it of course, but I can't remember it...) Mom's M-Spike number has come down to less than 10% of what it was when she was first diagnosed! Between her June appointment and her 100 day appointment, the number was more than cut in half. We are so thankful for the blessings the healing hand of our Heavenly Father has bestowed upon Mom. We are all rejoicing in this phenomenal news. However, we constantly continue to lift up requests for full and complete healing - the super-special remission - as Mom continues her treatments. She will soon begin a third regimen of chemo. This is a lower dose than prior chemos, and the goal is to bring the M-Spike down to 0 and then maintain the remission level. Mom is back working full time now - although I am quick to remind people that she is only working about 1 1/2 jobs now, rather than the 1 3/4 she used to work! =) In all seriousness, though, I know she just loves being back on the organ bench, leading the congregation in praising their Father, and so enjoys seeing all the kiddos at school and all the bright, cheery smiles they bring! Although the Multiple Myeloma path is a long one to remission, Mom's conquered one of the biggest mountains along that road. Praise be to God!!
