On the tables will be high-quality, oh-so-fancy "synthetic" (fancy word for plastic...) ivory tablecloths. We'll probably put 2-3 tables together in a longer row, and put each row in a "V" shaped pattern, so it's not quite as much like your run-of-the-mill cafeteria set-up!
These are the first version of the main centerpieces:
And the second version:
Each row of tables will have one of the two versions. The head table gets these big mamas on it, with tulle and maybe lights woven in between the bases. It also will have metallic blue & silver taper candles in the same bases on it.
The cake table and whatever other random tables there are get the leftover decorations. Oh, yeah - we ordered balloons, too. Not sure how we'll use them, but we have silver, pearly blue, and black. Hopefully that will help cover up the blah walls we have to work with. I'm thinking maybe the entry door will have balloons and tulle wrapped lights around it. Probably lots of balloons on whatever we put behind the head table, too. I'm hoping we can turn cheap balloons into a classy way to decorate, rather than turning the "hall" into a kid's birthday party scene!!!
